P.160 Tipo Morbido Shaving Soap

P.160 Tipo Morbido Shaving SoapThe scent is a traditional sweet almond scent preferred among Italian soaps.  Imagine opening up a bottle of imitation almond that one uses for baking.  Now it may not be that powerful, but you will get the idea.  The scent is not overpowering and it fades very quickly once washed off the face.

The consistency of this soap is a hybrid between a soap and cream.  It has the feeling of putty and is very easy to mold into any container.  This cream truly loves the water.  When loading my brush, I tend to add a bit more water than is usually necessary and there is an explosion.  It produces copious amounts of lather that is very slick and provides a great deal of protection.  I use a straight razor about 95% of the time when I shave and don’t have any issues.

Although it has been discontinued by the manufacturer, it can still be found with various online vendors that carry the product.  The usual sale point is around $40 for a 1kg block, which can last a person three years.  There are also vendors that have done splits and sell it for around $8 at 125g per unit.  I have truly great things to say about this Italian soft soap. I would be happy to never use any other soaps or creams while I still own the P.160 Tipo Morbido Shaving Soap. There definitely is a reason that Master Barbers in Italy have preferred this gem in their shops.
