Good Lather, Mild Scent

Lathers up quite well and produces slick lather. It whips up nicely when face-lathering or when using a mug. Mild Bay Rum scent that I'd like to have just a bit stronger, but no complaints as is. Functions comparable with soaps costing 3-4 times as much as Classic Shaving.

  • How long have you been Wet Shaving? Started in mid-60's, then followed the herd in the mid-70s when Bic hit the market and convenient when I was in the Army. I used disposables until approx 2015. Switched back to DE and I really enjoy the morning ritual!
  • Do you prefer a Safety Razor or Straight Razor? Safety razor. Too old and bleed too easily to take up straight razor shaving.
  • Do you prefer a Shave Soap or Cream? I use both, with soap predominant.
  • Have You Ever Tried a Pre-Shave Oil or Lotion? Yes

Great scent, lathers well

Fantastic. I really like the scent and since it lathers up so easily I don’t even need to use a mug.

  • How long have you been Wet Shaving? Roughly 30 years.
  • Do you prefer a Safety Razor or Straight Razor? I prefer a straight razor but due to a medical condition I get one once a month and maintain with a safety.
  • Do you prefer a Shave Soap or Cream? Soap
  • Have You Ever Tried a Pre-Shave Oil or Lotion? No.

Clog free for a close cut.

Smells wonderful; close shave; minimal clogging if any.

  • How long have you been Wet Shaving? 28 years or so on & off.
  • Do you prefer a Safety Razor or Straight Razor? Single or double blade safety razor.
  • Do you prefer a Shave Soap or Cream? Soap because creams clog razors.
  • Have You Ever Tried a Pre-Shave Oil or Lotion? Oil before & after. Oil prevents blade clogs.

Bay Rum Shaving Soap

I have been pleased with the Bay Rum soap. The aroma is pleasant, but not overwhelming. I had previously used the scentless shaving soap, which I also like. The bay rum aroma is slightly sweet, and reminiscent to this old guy of the smells of barbershops from my youth. Note that I used the word aroma, not odor or stench. I think you'll enjoy this soap. Cheers!
